Jason Collins...
We got over the gay N.B.A. player in the 90's when Magic Johnson and Isaiah Thomas used to kiss one another. Any person who was a fan of the N.B.A. in the 80's & 90's who saw Magic Johnson and Isaiah Thomas kiss before the Lakers played the Pistons and didn't think that the two of them were a couple of bi-sexual men, must not have been paying attention to what was going on. I always assumed that Magic and Isaiah in some form were expressing themselves as gay or bi. That's just what I assumed, and that just may be me, but I don't think so. I think that as they played more and more games against one another, the two of them were sending a message that "hey it's ok, we can still hoop like it's nobody's business."
Now that Jason Collins has decided to come out, I think that it's kind of anti-climactic for a couple of reasons. One, Jason Collins isn't a factor in the N.B.A., and two, he's currently a free-agent without a team. I'm not saying that Jason Collins is trying to get on an N.B.A. roster, but why wait so long? If the other, bigger named and rumored N.B.A. players would come out, then I think the impact would be a lot bigger. JASON COLLINS COMING OUT OF THE CLOSET RIGHT NOW IS LIKE MITT ROMNEY HOLDING A PRESS CONFERENCE TO ANNOUNCE THAT HE KNOWS A SURE FIRE WAY TO FIX THE ECONOMY. No one outside of FOX NEWS would really pay attention because Mitt doesn't really have any clout in the world of politics right now. To impress the masses of people in support of letting people live their own lives would be if someone like Chris Bosh, Jason Kidd, or even Russell Westbrook would come on out....LOL. I'm not saying they're gay, but if they were, I don't think anyone would be that shocked.....ijs.
